One hundred years ago, a sheriff’s posse killed dark warlock Rhyfel Gremory, but his witch-disciples escaped, and their magic made them nearly immortal. To keep their power, each year one of the witch-disciples kills a descendant of one of the men in the posse, a twelve-year cycle that has cost dozens of lives, including that of Seth Tanner’s brother, Jesse. Seth uncovers a cycle of ritual murders that feed the witch-disciples’ power, and he saves Evan Malone, one of the warlock’s potential victims. Neither Seth nor Evan expected to fall in love, but when the dust settles, they find themselves on the run and on the road together, heading toward Pittsburgh, on the trail of the next killer. Seth wonders whether Evan will come to regret his choice to stay together, now that he’s living the reality of Seth’s nomadic life and the risks that come with it. He wants Evan to stay, but he’s afraid that Evan would be better off without him, living a normal life. Evan’s whole world has been upended, but there’s one thing he’s sure of, his love for Seth. Evan worries that he’s a liability, not yet able to hold his own in Seth’s rough-and-tumble world, but determined to do whatever necessary to have Seth’s back. On the way to face the next warlock, supernatural threats abound, forcing them to learn to fight as a team. Fate and danger threw them together. But once the adrenaline fades, will love last? Book 1.5 in the Witchbane series. Burn contains sexually explicit material intended for adults 18 and over.

"On the heels of the dramatic events in Witchbane Seth and Evan are faced with the reality of what life will look like if they stay the course. Evan struggles to reconcile everything that was with everything that could be and Seth is always assuming Evan will wise up and leave. With both of them avoiding the communication that matters they're getting farther away from where they both yearn to be but don't know how to get to. They've got a lot of work and confessing to do if they're going to build a foundation and make progress toward a solid partnership.

This was a great novella to connect books one and two of the series because it delves into both of their hangups as well as giving a sense of what else is out there in the world of hunters. We're able to see the ups and downs of adjusting to the relationship that started with such drama. Seeing them both training and hunting keeps the overarching plot fresh in our minds and also gives us a chance to see how they work together in a more "normal" setting and I have to say that I think they make a great team...they just need to get on the same page and stay on it. It's not all happiness and roses, in fact, aside from their passion Burn is mostly filled with a lot of frustration, mistrust, second-guessing, and hurt. When the big decisions come it's not without pain, but it is honest. Burn is a believable segue between the uncertainty after Witchbane to all the crazy that's coming in Dark Rivers."

Burn A Witchbane Novella Morgan Brice Books Reviews

  • I really enjoyed this Novella by Morgan Brice. I usually prefer the full novel, but this series is so good, I had to have it too. It's such a great and fast read. Love Seth and Evan and how they care about each other so much. Seth is a very interesting hero with special gifts to help destroy evil. Evan is his new boyfriend and will do anything to save him and he has. Just a great read. Morgan Brice has a way with characters. She brings them to life so well. And always love the special friendship they have. Especially Seth and Evan. I recommend it and would give it ten stars if I could.
  • Terrific story-line with amazing world-building and lots of action. I loved getting to see more of Evan and Seth. Such a great blending of romance and Urban Fantasy with a wonderful romance to make it wonderful.

This is fun and interesting read. So many different paranormal beings and the lore was fascinating. Great characters and i cannot wait for more of the Witchbane Series series.

  • Evan and Seth have moved on from their first harrowing adventure. Living together in a trailer gives them both the closeness they desire and a chance to get better acquainted. Seth begins to train Evan. They begin to hunt the things that go bump in the night, not always coming away unscathed. Their insecurities begin to make each man doubt the relationship.

This book wasn’t what I expected. I thought I might just get a fluff story to hold me over while waiting for the next book. While not that long, it held a lot of information. It definitely let me get some insight into their characters. I liked their interactions while Seth set about training Evan. The secondary players were fleshed out too. I enjoy it.
  • BURN is a fast-paced novella that takes place right after the events in the novel WITCHBANE. Evan and Seth are adjusting to their new life of battling supernatural threats together. The monsters they fight are fascinating, and as a student of Southern folklore I was glad to see a “boo hag” included in the mix. But the emphasis here is on the brand-new romantic relationship between Even and Seth, as they work through their own self-doubts and try to forge a life together. Like all of Morgan Brice’s novels and novellas, BURN is a fascinating mix of urban fantasy, action, and M/M romance. Highly recommended!
  • This is book 1.5 for The Witchbane Series. An engrossing book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. Seth and Evan are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, ghosts, RV, ghouls, witches, a mine, zombies, guns, learning and more in this book. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
  • The action doesn’t stop in this novella. Wonderful installment in this series and well worth the read. I can’t wait to see how their relationship continues to evolve!
  • A fast-paced story about a slow burn. Watching some of my favorite characters in small encounters, leading to a big climax is great. I can't wait to read the next book
